About

I am a student and educator, which for those most familiar with both know that I speak redundantly.  My favorite topic of study is the apocalypse as understood during the European Middle Ages (c. 500-1500).  The subject and the era, I have found, are far more diverse, colorful, and culturally rich than most people today commonly think.  So I have sought to do what I can to delve into the history of both.

As for my other interests, these should become apparent as this blog continues.  Theology, philosophy, and literature all are important to me individually and in how they interact with each other and with history to create distinctive cultural expressions and art forms.  By art forms, I do not limit my meaning to dusty old tomes and pealing paintings (though both can be wonderful because of, not despite, their age) one would expect to find interesting only to academics.  By art I include popular books, movies, video games, and other types of media capable of expressing a unique perspective by engaging its audience and provoking an emotional and contemplative response.

In short, I am a self-admitted (lesser) member of the intelligentsia with a firm footing in “nerd culture” and other things fun for the sake of fun.  Therefore, I hope this blog will appeal to a wide audience looking for interesting, entertaining things online while satisfying those who wish to explore a diversity of topics about the apocalypse.   I hope, like me, those reading this will find both hungers fulfilled.
